Modi the Viking was blessed and cursed by a Valkyrie when he was a newborn infant.  So touched by the gods, his life was never normal. The blessing gave him great resources of strength. But he was cursed that if he ever wielded a weapon forged by man or god, his soul would be destroyed!

Life in the north was never easy, but as the years passed Modi and his family faced one disaster after another. Until Modi’s father and mother and their home were lost to him. Where were the gods? Why had they allowed frost giants to roam the land?

Finally Modi had enough! He would find Thorr and challenge him! And so a quest begins, with a soul hanging in the balance. Along the way Modi finds adventure and grows to be a man. There are even stirrings of romance in his heart. Who would blame the gods for not expecting Modi would have the courage and power to stand against them?

Hammer of the Gods gives us the quest of one hero, one simple man with one simple good question: Why? And even though it is set against a backdrop of centuries ago, it is a question spawned in the frustration of the human condition. It is a question that has been with us since the beginning of the species. And it will likely continue until our end.

Modi’s quest is our quest.
